AN EXPRESSION OF THANKS TO GOD

Leaving a charitable gift under your Will offers an opportunity to make a substantial donation to a cause you care about. A legacy might be an expression of thanks to God for an organisation which has played a significant role in your life or in the lives of your family. This may be the church where you or your children were nurtured; it could be Glow Church! With the economic pressures of today, exceptional lifetime giving is out of reach for many. However, you may hold wealth in less realisable assets, such as a business or your own home.  A legacy from these assets may represent your best opportunity to make a more substantial gift.

BLESSING GENERATIONS

As Jesus was dying on the cross, he commended his mother Mary to the care of his disciple John (John 19:26-27). So family is important, but is that where the Christian’s responsibility stops? Perhaps more than most, Christians are aware of their mortality and the very act of making a Will should be considered as an act of spiritual significance in the light of that mortality. Jesus’ teaching about storing up treasures on earth really hits home at the point of death (Matt 6:19-21). However, in making a Will, what earthly treasures we do have can continue to bless others, perhaps even for generations to come.

We are called to exercise Godly stewardship over all our resources, and that includes our estate. Indeed, it is likely that the distribution of our estate will be the largest single financial decision we ever make and it is therefore important that God is honoured in the decisions that we reach. Without making a Will, you cannot be sure that your estate will be distributed in the way in which you would want.

EASIER THAN YOU THINK

Making the decision to include a gift in your Will to Glow Church is a wonderful way to leave a lasting legacy. It’s easier than you might think—just follow these steps:

Step One – Make Note of Our Charity Details
You'll need our full name and details to ensure your gift reaches us.

Step Two – Decide What Type of Gift You Want to Include
There are two main ways to include a gift in your Will:
- A residuary gift: This is a percentage or share of your estate after all other payments and gifts have been made.
- A pecuniary gift: This is a fixed amount of money that you wish to donate.

Step Three
 – Consider Inheritance Tax
Gifts made to charity are free from Inheritance Tax. By including a charitable gift in your Will, particularly if you allocate 10% of your estate to charity, you may reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax that applies, while supporting a cause that is close to your heart.

Step Four – Create or Adjust Your Will
Once you’ve decided on your gift, it’s time to speak with a solicitor to have your Will drawn up or adjusted.

We’re here to help you through every step of creating your legacy! If you have any questions or want to discuss your potential gift further, please feel free to reach out to our Legacy Team by emailing Steve at [email protected]

NO GIFT IS TOO SMALL

In a world that often emphasises big gestures and significant donations, it can be easy to overlook the impact of smaller gifts. However, the truth is that no gift is too small to create a lasting difference. Every contribution, regardless of its size, adds value and can effect meaningful change in our community and beyond.

At Glow Church, we celebrate and value every gift, no matter the amount. Each contribution represents a decision to invest in a vision, to support a mission, and to care for those around us. When we remember that every gift counts, we cultivate a culture of generosity that uplifts everyone.

Never underestimate the potential of your contribution, regardless of its size. Every gift, no matter how small, has the power to make a lasting difference and can inspire others to give as well. Together, our collective efforts can foster change, support those in need, and create a legacy of love and generosity for future generations.
